THE FLEX POINTE

Awaken your body's magic of self-healing, and discover its sense of freedom, life, and self-expression.

The Work

The Flex Pointe method aims to heal, regulate, and balance the body. It is a combination of five distinct manual therapies: Acupressure, Structural Alignment, CranioSacral TherapyVisceral Manipulation, and Myofascial Mobilization. Together, they facilitate the body's ability to address various forms of physical and emotional impact and move into a state of equilibrium.

The Modalities

/ Acupressure is a hands-on form of bodywork based on acupuncture (an ancient traditional Chinese method of healing) that stimulates points and specific flows of energy - meridians - with finger pressure instead of with very fine needles.

/ Structural Alignment, CranioSacral Therapy and Visceral Manipulation are all manual therapies stemming from osteopathy, which is a form of treatment that is based on 3 principles: that there is unity between the body, mind, and spirit;  that the body is capable of self-healing, regulation, and maintenance; and that structure and function of the body are interrelated.

/ Structural Alignment work is based on the principle that when the joints in the body are in their proper alignment, the muscles, nerves and organs related to those joints relax and perform more effectively.

/ CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle form of bodywork that detects and corrects imbalances and restrictions in the CranioSacral system (the head, spine and sacrum) encouraging the body’s natural healing mechanisms to dissipate negative effects of stress on the central nervous system.

/ Visceral Manipulation addresses the connections between the visceral organs (liver, diaphragm, small and large intestines, etc.) and how they move independently and in relationship to one another.

/ Myofascial Mobilization focuses on releasing the pull from the fascia, which is the connective tissue which surrounds every cell, muscle, organ, and structure. With gentle touch, this technique facilitates ease and cohesiveness between different parts of the body.

The unique blend of these modalities powerfully and noticeably optimizes body function. It is as appropriate for newborns as is it for the elderly, and helps with rehabilitation from a host of physical impacts such as sports injuries, accidents, surgeries, dental work, headaches, chronic pain, prenatal and postpartum issues, and many more.

“True transformation”

Anna is a real pro and a natural healer. An ideal partner for those who strive to heal themselves from chronic holding patterns and bodily traumas. For me, true transformation has occurred throughout the past 7 years. She learns from every treatment she gives, while her expertise expands via ongoing formal study. I’m so glad to have her in my corner!

"Her understanding is simply phenomenal"

Anna is magic. It’s really the best way I know to describe her and what she does. I first met her when I owned a yoga studio, and as soon as I had a session with her I started sending all my students (and friends!) to her too. The number of times they’ve come back to me and said, "Whoa, she is magic," is countless. I’ve been going to Anna for almost twenty years now, both for specific injuries — she’s been key in my healing from a horrible bout of sciatica over the past two years —and also just for regular tune-ups, which help keep the pain in my body to a minimum and let me continue to skate, dance, yoga, and move easily as I get older. I really don’t know how she does it, but somehow she gets right to the root of whatever is going on in your body and then makes it better. You show up in yoga-type clothing and she moves you around and presses in certain places and suddenly everything shifts. One time I went in with the weirdest sharp leg pain that was making me limp. After assessing it, Anna thought it was coming from my intestines. Um, whaaat?!? Well, she was right. She worked on my intestinal area the entire session, and when I stood up the pain was totally gone and has never been back. Her understanding of the body is simply phenomenal— and, as a perk, she is also one of the most wonderful people you will ever meet. Kindness and optimism just beam out of her. Anna makes my world better in every way, and I am forever grateful to her!

“She has healed aches and pains I've lived with for 30 years”

I call Anna the Hand Listener. Her ability through touch to find and fix all the painful places in your body is amazing. I started going to her because of a sciatic nerve flare-up. Not only was she able to alleviate my overwhelming nerve pain, she also has healed aches and pains that I’ve lived with for thirty years without prior relief. From a niggling back pain to abdominal scar tissue, her hands have delicately released years of tightness, tension and improper alignment.  She listens with her hands; she also hears with her heart. Anna recognizes the interconnectedness of the body, mind and spirit and she soothes all three through her incredible healing practice. I have sent many friends to her already, and I know that I will continue to see her even when my obvious injuries have been treated. I firmly believe that my ability to live a “blue zone” life is enhanced by the healing hands of Anna Cherekovsky.

“Anna returned the range of motion I had in my 20's”

I’ve had several body work sessions a year with Anna for the last twenty years. I'm a pretty healthy guy, so those sessions are usually a tune-up of sorts that leaves my body and spirit feeling freer and more dependable as I move through my day. The session itself feels great, and the gradual re-set that happens in my body over the following few days is palpable and lasting. When I did have a problem with a flare-up from an old shoulder injury and with a bout of sciatica that likely came from too much sitting at the computer, Anna was able to discern the source of each injury and begin the appropriate treatment on the spot. The work she ultimately did on both of my rotator cuffs returned the range of motion in my shoulders that I had in my twenties. The work she did on my lower back and hips helped resolve the problem of the sciatica entirely, and after faithfully following her recommendations for regular stretches, I've not had a recurrence in a decade. I also finally stopped leaving my wallet in my back pocket while driving after Anna told me for the hundredth time it was bad for my back and hips, and sure enough, there has been a further reduction of pain and stiffness that I thought was just normal until it went away entirely. This is really good stuff.

“Anna takes bodywork into another dimension”

I don’t know how she does it, but Anna takes bodywork into another dimension. She gracefully unwinds the knots and tightness while encouraging the body to gently come back into balance. But make no mistake. You feel and get results while walking away taller and energetically lighter.

Meeting Anna has changed my life. There simply is no other practitioner more thorough, intuitive, compassionate, or gifted. Every time I see her, she has evolved in some new, deep, intentional way tailored to help each client she serves. My heart and body will never be the same.
